work habits

ever since i moved to my new workplace, there are a lot of habits that i have to change. first, i don't have to wake up super early, and no crazy stress to make sure i'd get to work on time before someone would note my name and reported to management just because i was one minute off the clock. second, my lunch hour is super long that i sometimes don't even know what else can i do during lunch time. one time, i even went to the nearest mall and after lunch and all, i even had time to window shop. how cool is that? but yet, i know it wouldn't last too long. my "honeymoon" period is ending. i still do not have to come super early as i used to in the old place, and my lunch hour can stretch pretty long, however, my stay is getting longer and longer at work. if in my first week, i was able to go home before the sunset, now, i have to stay pretty late.. and according to some colleague, that's not yet late enough compare to the hours of the person who used to do the job before me. so i guess that day will come closer and closer.

since i deal a lot with numbers and analyzing them through my computer screen, it's getting tough on my eyes. i know that when i was still in new york, doing the similar thing, it affects my eyes pretty bad. gone was the day that my eyes were ever 20/20 again. and it looks that my prescription will go up pretty soon. so to lessen the possibility of getting it worse, in between work, i had to do lots of breaks, here and there, to make sure that i give a break to my eyes and freshen my mind. it's kinda hard, especially that i'm very determine to finish my job everytime i'm involve with this kind of work. i always want to make sure i finish them and wouldn't take my eyes & minds off it until i'm done. it ends up i'm stuck to my screen for so long, i forgot to take a break.

and the job hours really vary. i could be so free with nothing to do in the morning, then .. just as i'm thinking of going home early.. bam! i got an email from the regional office to support them with some reports. and i ended up staying at work until 9PM.

but all and all, i'm still in the phase that i find this work challenging, because there are tons of things i need to learn still. but i know that as soon as i get accustomed to this work, i'd be bored as hell. hopefully by then, as my boss has told me, i'd be given another exciting project/assignment to do.

right now, let me break this "wall" first.
